It's part of what I do. I've run games with kids as young as five years old, and my game group has included a man of sixty. I also use games of many types in my classroom of ten and eleven year olds.
We're born playing Let's Pretend, an as yet untrademarked set of rules, so kids are natural roleplayers.
Kids live in a reality more mythic and magical than that of modern, Westernized adults.
Kids master complicated rule systems.
Published games do require some maturity and focus in order to play in an orderly manner. Tell kids stories. Read with them. You'll know when they're ready to join the games.
