Surely, dwarfs who are required to go aboard ship can be programmed not to feel motion sickness.

I rather like to interpret all of the "secret societies" listed in that section as being sinister to some degree or another. Seshnegi society being as straight-laced as it is, the least that they can do is be shocked. (My personal favorites are the Losers and the Guild of Chaos Monks.)
