How is it incompatible? Where is the contradiction between what Nick says and "HW will also allow players to run characters comparable in power to ordinary farmers. Both styles of game can be played using this system."
Runequest allows players to play characters similar in ability to the coders, it also allows you to play farmers. So does Hero Wars, it just makes it easier - in the opinion of many of the people who have played both games.

I agree completely. I like a good game of RQ3 as much as anyone.
