I believe that David Dunham is correct that clans often have two names. I'd go further and say that they are often known by many names. Different names could be derived from the founder of the clan, from the place where the clan resides or some significant physical feature in that place, or from a clan badge, or a clan totem, or from some important magical artifact owned by the clan, or some important economic activity in which the clan specializes. The clan may use some of these names for themselves, others will be used by outsiders and not by the clan.

David is also correct that this is a very useful idea to keep in mind when you have to reconcile different sources somehow.

Having said that, I'll now present a bit of stuff that I wrote up about the Cinsina tribe. The following was a general briefing that was handed out to the players in a small free-form that I wrote a few years ago. It doesn't seem to match up with current "official" sources, so use it how you will or ignore it completely.

The material reports the situation just after Starbrow's rebellion. The king of the Cinsina died in the rebellion and the tribe has gathered at the Thing to elect a new king. The players in the free-form were the various candidates trying to build up their factions and arrange coalitions.

Sequence of Events in Starbrow's Rebellion (from Cinsina point of view)

The Cinsina Tribe

The Halfari Clan
- - Descendants of Halfar, son of Queen Cinsina

The Emanari Clan
- - The Emanari are descendants of Emanara, daughter of Cinsina

The Dekamoli Clan
- - The Dekamoli are descendants of Dekamol, a thane of Cinsina

The Gwynari Clan
- - This is a new clan, formed only 6 years ago from several households of the
Dekamoli

and the remnants of the Maboder tribe plus a few other households from other clans.

Recently, they also include Far Point refugees.
- - The Clan contains many Seven Mothers worshippers (mostly old Maboder
families),

and supports a small temple to them.
- - Bjarni Gwynarson is the current leader. He is a determined Uroxi, and
delights in

hunting Telmori. (He was formerly Dekamoli.) He has a difficult position, being Uroxi

but having many 7-Mothers initiates in his following.
- - The Gwynari are campaigning to get control of Jarolar Keep, which used to
be in the

control of the Maboder. However the Lunars control it now, and maintain a small, alert

   garrison.

The Rhukinae Clan
- - The Rhukinae control the great hill fort of Red Cow.

Minor Clans
- -There are several minor clans each less than half the size of the major
clans and generally poor.
- -The Lachlani are one of these.

Political Issues among the Cinsina

Sheepherding and Forest Clearance

Old forest is being cleared for flocks of sheep by several clans. The Gwynari have been doing this to settle their new lands. However, this clearing is leading to erosion of the clans' lands, and also to dependence on foreign trade for a living. The change in land use and loss of self-sufficiency is upsetting to the conservatives. The erosion is leading to silting of the Creek, this is damaging the livelihood of the fisherfolk.

Log traffic on the river

Much of the forest being felled is being sold downriver, where the timber is being used to rebuild Runegate, Boldhome, and other places damaged by the Lunars in Starbrow's Revolt. This new traffic on the river has been damaging nets, and colliding with boats. There has also been logjacking, by brigands who wish a cheap profit on another's labour. The Decamoli want to set tolls on the log booms, as an extension on their traditional tolls on river traffic.

The Duck Pogrom

The Lunars declared the tribe of ducks (one of the tribes of Sartar to the south, in the swamps) to be responsible for inciting the Revolt. Therefore, anyone who brings in a dead duck to them will have the punitive tax lifted that was imposed for this year after the revolt. Many people feel that the Ducks have just been picked as the scapegoats.

The Debated Lands

There is an area of land, over near the Cinsina/Culbrea border, that is in dispute. It is presently claimed by the Lachlani, a small Cinsina clan. It is mostly highland, forested in parts, and poor upland pasture in others. The Lachlani are vehement that it rightfully belongs to them. Predictably, the legal situation is far more complex.

Jarolar Keep

Jarolar Keep was established in about 1560 by Prince Jarolar. It is a Royal keep, like Dangerford. Originally in the control of the Maboder, it fell to the Lunars after the Maboder demise as a tribe. The land around it, formerly Maboder, is now being colonized by Lunar soldiers being pensioned off and settled there by Jomes Wulf, a Lunar officer who obtained a land grant for that area from the victorious Lunar army command. Many of the Maboder now in the Gwynari would like to see this keep back in clan hands.

Marriage Customs among the Cinsina

Like all Orlanthi, the Cinsina are exogamous, patrilineal, and patrilocal. Men and women always marry outside their own clan. Women join the clan of their husband and move to the lands of their new clan. Children are born into the clan of their father, unless their mother is unmarried in which case they belong to their mother's clan. However inheritance of property and rights may be through the female line as well as the male line (eg. the royal bloodline descends by male and female branches). All clans in the tribe intermarry, but there are restriction about which clans take wives from which other clans.

Halfari take wives from: Emanari, Rhukinae
give wives to: Gwynari, Decamoli, Lachlani

Emanari	take wives from:	Rhukinae, Gwynari
give wives to: Halfari, Dekamoli, Lachlani

Rhukinae	take wives from:	Dekamoli, Gwynari, Lachlani
		give wives to: Halfari, Emanari

Gwynari	take wives from:	Halfari, Dekamoli, Lachlani
		give wives to: Emanari, Rhukinae

Decamoli	take wives from:	Halfari, Emanari, Lachlani
		give wives to: Rhukinae, Gwynari

Lachlani	take wives from:	Halfari, Emanari
give wives to: Rhukinae, Gwynari, Dekamoli
