They are the principles and aspects of the Celestial Fire.

There is. Tolat was the chief god of the Loper people when they migrated here and the majority of Melibians still think of him as such. Calyz is (or was) Harstar's personal deity and is not as important.

Harstar does not need the Vadeli (although there are one or two there) as Melib has a minority of equally nasty sea-going people. They were formerly Sky People but fell to earth upon Churanpur (a now-sunken isle mentioned in Greg's Vithelan Mythology) during the Gods War. Their only redeeming feature is that they don't practice human sacrifice and that's because they can't worship Gods.

Melib's history has been a rather sad cycle of violence between the these people and the descendants of the Loper People. Harstar is in power because he can play off the two sides (as did the God Learners before him).
