Owch. I recall a SF story (Silverberg or Spinrad, or one of these others guys beginning with an 'S'?) where the cut-off for 'abortions' was ability to do mental arithmetic (look out Robin Laws!), but I assumed that was pure invention, cum anti-abortion flamebait.

I suspect most Gloranthan cultures aren't as fussy about allowing abortion as all this 'But the Earth goddesses would throw a hissy fit!' thinking would suggest. But having CA's perform them does seem more problematic to me -- as I've said before, for them it's not just a matter of making a moral calculation of the greatest good for all parties, but observing the magico-legalistic nuances of their vow-geas. For example, I can imagine them _supervising_ such a procedure quite happily, but getting someone else to do the actual induction (and in the case of the broo-babe, as someone said, someone else to do the squishin').

Cheers,
Alex.
