The Stygians have never had the crusade as it requires a monotheist mindset. Even the God Learners were reportedly unable to use it at the end of the second age because of their then pantheistic religion.
FWIW the crusaders attempting to replace Saval with a sorcerer king is actually a sign of civil strife within Seshnela rather than a God Learner-Stygian clash that the article implies.
