Hey Folks...

I've gotten myself into a little pickle and I'm wondering if the digest can help me out.

I started a HW game a few weeks ago and the basic scenario is this: the Heroes are members of the Varmandi clan of the Colymar tribe. King Blackmoor sent a Lunar advisor to the clan. This advisor told the clan that the King was searching for an ancient item of power, the Amulet of Conciliation (I stole this from KoDP). Divination had shown that only members of the Varmandi clan could find this item. The king would take thralls from the clan if they refused to take on the quest.

Naturally our heroes didn't like the situation, but they had a number of adventures that eventually led them to the amulet. They have discovered that the amulet makes enemies more likely to be friendly toward one another (i.e. the orlanthi subjects to their lunar masters). The heroes aren't that thrilled with this idea, but they realize that they must give Blackmoor the amulet. They have decided they want to attempt a hero quest to counter the powers of the amulet. Great I thought, thinking like Orlanthi! Then I thought hmmm. I don't know of a myth that will fit this type of quest.

I thought and thought and thought, and I came up with three ideas.

  1. Try to do an issaries the conciliator quest with a goal of failing in a certain way so that the amulet will be affected. (not to thrilled with this idea)
  2. Do a quest based on "No one can make you do anything". I like this one, but I can't seem to find a myth that is related to this attitude of Orlanth's. Is there one I'm not thinking of? Anyone out there ever make one up? Please post one if you've got one!
  3. Beg the digest for help! If you've got an idea about a myth to help solve this problem let me know. Please.

Looking forward to all your help, and comments...
