Wary of getting involved in this but for this simple point. If you wanted to allow multiple augments but not unlimited would you find it acceptable to limit the number of augments to the number of masteries possessed in the Affinity?
That would avoid extra bookkeeping and would reflect the power obtained with that affinity...
