Assuming it's an extended contest, I would let her use the feat as an augment for the duration of the contest because the idea sounds cool (makes me think of the fight in the bamboos in Crounching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). I would only make her roll if she wants a non automatic augment or if the trees are magical and reject her. Besides if she loses AP in the contest you can say it's because she falls or lose balance or something.
