Unless of course they see each death they achieve, as they do it, as an act of worship, not just of killing? Praying *as* they slay? I'm not saying they all do this, or that any but the most fanatical do it all the time, but I'm sure it happens. As well as "normal" worship, though.
But yes, the various background books tell us exactly what each deity wants in the way of sacrifices, both public and personal. Lots of nice colour there, too.
