How good are your followers

Followers and sidekicks are a very useful feature of HQ, but they cause me some heartaches at times.

If you use followers as AP (extended combat) there are currently rules to kill them off as AP is lost. But if you use them as an augment they remain forever, there is no mechanism to kill off followers other then one I make up. One of my players has 6 followers and this is becoming a bit of a problem.

The other issue comes down to what happens when the player uses a power that his followers dont have. For eg the player uses a special jumping magic to leap from one side of a cavern to the other side. Do his followers all jump with him? Are they assumed to have all the powers of the player? Or are they left behind.

Either way causes me problems, but I wanted to know how others handle it.
