Saying an ability is a magic item is surely just giving it a particular colour: it's a magic sword, its a lightsaber, it's my wu-shu training, it's the fire of my hate, etc.
Presumably, In The Glorious Tomorrow they will resemble other abilities, *whatever they look like*.
