They can add their keyword's ablities and feats to the Hero's AP total in extended conflicts. They can negate the multiple opponent penalties. They CAN act on their own -- but tend to get munched. And they can often lend a hand or AP in struggles using their other ablities. And if they have abilities which are unique or rare, they can use them in their own right.
The possiblities in having a Brevara Healer as a follower (Keywords Healer and Brevara Initiate) should be readily apparent. Especially after a battle when there's patching up to do.
But as followers, they don't get HP and can't have HP spent on any dice-rolling they do themselves -- and this can be very, very dangerous. Especially if they have a low ability number.
