Not really, but as close to it as its going to get in this world. I apologize for the off topic post, but I presume some on the list would be interested in this charity event given its nature:

On 6 April 2002, bagpipers and drummers (about 8000 in all currently) from all over the world will be marching in New York City to support the cancer organizations, Gilda's Club Worldwide and Marie Curie Cancer Care. These two organizations provide support to those with cancer, home and hospice care, medical training and research. 90% of the money raised will go to these two charities, 5% will go to the NYPD and FDNY Pipe Bands, and 5% to The National Piping Center in the UK. Organizational costs are being covered by corporate sponsors.

For those of you who wish to watch the parade (or avoided it like the plague), the route is 36 blocks up 6th Ave. ending in Central Park at the Sheep Meadow. (Insert joke about Scotsman and sheep here.) The organizers intend to post the route map to their website www.pipefest.com.

If you're a piper or a drummer who hasn't signed on yet, there is still time to register at www.pipefest.com.

After the parade a Kilted Bungee Jumping competition will be held. Come out and watch this future Olympic event. … REALLY! No, not really.

Donations can be sent to either:

Diane F. Perlmutter
CEO, Gilda's Club Worldwide
322 Eighth Avenue, Suite 1402
New York, NY 10001

or

Sarah Grotrian
Secretary for Scotland
Marie Curie Cancer Care
29 Albany Street, Edinburgh
Scotland EH1 3QN

Please send your donation to the country closest to you. Make your check, etc. payable to "Gilda's Club Worldwide" in the US and "Marie Curie Cancer Care" in the UK. Please mention you are sponsoring "ScottishPower Tunes of Glory."

Although the account will remain open for donations after the event, please make your donation by 22 March 2002 so it can be included in a post-parade announcement of funds raised.
