I think it partially depends on how much the Players know - If all they know of Kallyr is that she is that annoying Vingan who keeps causing trouble then (a) they won't feel constrained by "history" (or determined to try and de-rail it to keep the GM on their toes!) and (b) you will avoid potential arguments as to whether she would really behave like that, or have been there then etc etc...

Of course it also depends on how free the GM feels they want to be with Gloranthan "history" too!
