For the edification of the poll requester: Player enters - character introduced as decided jointly by the narrator, the new player, and the existing players (narrator has more of a vote than the others, but is open to input). Player exits - character may or may not exit depending on the needs of the story, and the wishes of the narrator, the exiting player, and the other players (the narrator's wishes may again carry more weight). These two processes can be (and are in my games) more cooperative than the given choices.
Thanks,
Andy
