Actually, in many cases a suitable wife could be just as good : a very mannish heterosexual woman for instance. Some kinds of Vingans, or Gor women might be only to happy to have a nice man to take care of the housework and kids while they're off doing all the important stuff ... ;-)

I'd think that husbands of certain PC-type Heortling women could often have Nandani tendencies, at least.

Man to Nandani marriages do exist of course, but I think it's reasonably unusual, among the Heortlings anyway.

If they did marry, then his friends _would_ regard the Nandani as a woman.

Yep, although IMO the practice is less prevalent among the Heortlings than other Orlanthi : Alakorings, Esrolians, and Helerings for instance don't have exactly the same rules about gender as the Heortlings.
