I think that trying to typify a 'pure Lunar' is a bit of a, um, red herring. The Lunar rating in the census is a useful measure of how Lunarised a region is, and as has been noted, the root ethnicity of these people will vary, it is unlikely to follow the exact ethnic breakdown of the wider population.

However, Lunar is always a cultural overlay. Even if you are from Torang, and your parents worshipped Sedenya, and their parents and so on, right back to the very Birth of the Goddess, which presumably makes you as 'pure Lunar' as there can be, you are still probably of Rinliddi stock and will be different in a hundred different minor ways from you counterpart from Graclodont, even though you both believe fervently in the Lunar Way and you are proud to call her sister.

Why?

(1) You don't operate in a cultural vacuum and will be influenced by the cultures around you; and

(2) That's what the Goddess wants! The Lunar Way is syncretic, not homogenising. In other words, She doesn't want the old cultures erased, she wants them assimilated but preserved.

So on balance, I really would strongly suggest you give up a quest for 'pure Lunars', as it really will distort your picture of the Empire and the Lunar Way. There will be more on the Lunars in ILH-2, but there is a reason why they don't feature more strongly in the overview book!

All the best

Mark
