        Sure Ernalda is dependent on Orlanth -- to the same degree that he is dependent on her. It's not like their marriage is one of those "year-long-see-you-later-it-was-fun" kind of things. If the DP Ernaldans had known it was coming, I'm sure they could have done big "Orlanth is leaving, Ernalda needs a new husband-protector" ritual that would have spared them the grief, but it was kind of a surprise. Of course, they could have still done the ritual afterwards, but, unfortunately, doing the necessary heroquest would be pretty hard with no magic. I'm sure Esrolian Ernaldans can find a useful lesson in this -- if you're going to go hitching yourself permanently to some man, be prepared to pay for it....

        I want to know why Helerites lost their magic, though.
