The heortlings have to deal with Praxian raids, Grazers and the Tusk Riders.

Of these at least the tuskers and some of the heavier Praxians are charging cavalry.

I seem to recall Greg talking about the Heortlings employing pretty sophisticated shieldwall formations like the boar-snout to survive cavalry charges. Of course the heortling also have very swift skirmishers to harass and slow down the cavalry.
