Re: Vingan "Active" virtue

Hi All,

A note to say that I'm here, I'm listening, and I'm pondering Vingans again. I nearly got diverted into a discussion of restlessness in John Hughes' Vingans, complete with quotations about the burden of Cradledaughter's gifting. However, that got caught up in the difference between a virtue/personality trait working for gaming and working for story, and I'm now chasing my tail about the difference between why you do things, what you do, and how you do it. I might do something _because_ I'm active/restless/autonomous, but will that necessarily make me more successful at it?

Next phase of question:

I'm filling in an Esrolian Vingan at the moment, and -- at least IMG -- Vinga's turning out to be almost a different deity in Esrolia. Her defining relationships are with Ernalda and not-being-Babeester. The Esrolian Vingan worships the Earth pantheon and the Warrior Women instead of the Storm pantheon and the Storm Brothers. Default occupation keyword is Foot soldier instead of Warrior. She's probably an officer trained to mediate between the (male) consort(s) and the (male) fyrd-equivalent (remember that Belintar has only just arrived on the scene in my world). And suddenly even basic Vingan affinities like "Movement" are up for discussion.

Cheers,
Jennifer (the sleepy, and not necessarily very coherant)
