Well, we could throw it on the heap of "RQ-era understanding, since superseded" if we wanted to. I tend to see it as being like Newton's laws of gravity: an over-simplification, but good enough for normal purposes. You don't really want General Relativity as a starting point when wondering if apples fall downwards.
