Let's show rather than tell (was Re: Preparing for play, how I do it)

IMO God Forgot is a bit difficult for an in-culture game unless you start in one of the two oddball cities (Casino Town or Refuge). For Refuge, there is a French adaptation of Thieves World which has a few RQ2ish elements but otherwise sounds like a good place to start.

They are still smarting from his win, and feel relieved that he isn't around to collect interest any longer. Belintar broke the bank when he toured to conquer the Sixths.

>> Leonardo is there firmly stuck in the past,

IMO he's stuck within his personal stereotype.

The Talari are timeless. A pity their surroundings aren't.

Not IMG. I haven't seen the MRQ stuff, but the least I can say is that Casino Town has been there when Belintar came. To me, Casino Town is linked to Asrelia/Esrola, and has been a peculiarity in the Leftarm Isles since the Ingareens settled there.

The Clanking Ruins are about the same bad neighbourhood setting as are the Footprint, Devil's Marsh, Snake Pipe Hollow or Dorastor. Or Old Karse.

There still is the trouble how to motivate in-culture gaming in a (pseudo-?) Brithini society. Leftarmers under the Talars and Esvulari have been neighbours for centuries, with uneasy relationships because of certain similarities which make the differences all the more pointed. Pan-Kethaelan functionaries (and immigrants?) from the Pharaonic regime don't interfere with the Talars' schemes (although they may provide lots of "bad influence").

That's like entering Old Pavis immediately after the Dragonewts' Dream, only worse because of the various curses. Dwarf constructs rather than trolls to fight.

> The Talari wanting a return to something old?

Yo mean, make another unreasonable demand to make life more difficult than it is anyway?

IMG God Forgot is a place to demonstrate how to integrate existing gaming material (Thieves World) into Glorantha, and how to smoothe the discrepancies. The result makes for interesting playing both in Refuge and in the generally drab Talar-dominated islands, but doesn't sound like what Ian proposed.
