In passing, I think I should mention the prehistoric ridgeways of England (routes which run along the bare ridges of hills rather than in the overgrown or swampy lowland valleys below). These could be very suitable ancient alternatives to Sartar's Roads, perhaps particularly appealing to old-style Orlanthi rebels in the highlands. Even if they aren't real in our world, they could have been in Glorantha, no?
