Hmm, well I stand corrected, though I don't think there are *text* occurances :-p.

I had to look hard at the Footprints cover to see it.

Tales 8 (page 27) has a howdah
Tales 16 (Cover, page 66) doesn't seem to indicate anything like a howdah.

The Moon Rites cover doesn't have a Howdah

The Cults of Terror (page 77) doesn't (sems to be ridden only by the Goddess though - she probably wouldn't need it...)

So, two out of five visual depictions have a howdah, and they are both by the same artist...
