I am no translator, but 'backpack'?
In italian the word 'sarcina' is no more used, but 'zaino' is as close a reference as I can imagine. In particular because modern travellers and soldiers use 'zaini' and everybody understands that word in a military context. Sarcina=una specie di zaino militare antico a sort of ancient leginary backpack

I know a little more, but not by much. The average gamer, however, probably doesn't.

Ooh, I do have a question for an expert, come to think of it, though it's now too late for the article I needed it for. How would you translate "sarcina" into English? One of these things:
