If he thought he might survive and knew the gifts/geases taken, then the Red Emperor could well have tried this as a last-ditch tactic, especially if he was mortally wounded. It would all depend of the geases the kiddie had. For example, "Never Attack an Unarmed Man" could allow him to be goaded into attacking the Red Emperor as he throws his rapier away. However, I suspect the geases were far stronger than that.

It depends how far you go with a geas such as celibacy. Does a kiss count? It might do and anyone could be tricked into kissing another, especially a child. In any case, they became adults the moment they joined the Household of Death.
