I think this may help answer one Gloranthan question: how could many of the cultures that survived the Darkness not realize that the Dawn had arrived?

And a related one on how cultures can survive next to each other that (to us at least) is obviously superior: "They reject everything from outside their world. They just don't want it, and it's been that way since the day the Brazilians first found them in this jungle in the seventeen-hundreds."
