Have you ever seen OG? Subtitled: "The Roleplaying Game Of Caveman
Miscommunication" Firefly Games has updated the old Wingnut Games RPG.
Basically there are only about 20 words in the game, and each
character only knows a few of them - you circle the words you know on
your character sheet. You are only allowed to communicate with your
known words.
If you were so inclined you could use this idea for Tradetalk if you
wanted to. Make a list of words - almost all commerce related, and
allow players a number of words based on how good they are with
tradetalk. Obviosly you would want a more sophisticated list that
goes beyond 20 words like 'Rock', 'Bang' and 'Food'.

for players when they interacted using tradetalk to underline its
limitations, and encourage the players to learn/use other languages,
like only usings words without the letter 'e' in them, or no
sentences with more than 6 words, something like that.
