I had a friend who was in the peace corps in Taiwan. After a good
harvest the village had a feast and set a place for the village god, as
represented by his idol, got drunk, toasting the god and being happy.
After a bad harvest the village had a meal and set a place for the
village god, as represented by his idol, got drunk, and afterwards
dragged the idol out into the fields and beat it with sticks to do
better next time.
i know such things occur in Glorantha.
