The Man Rune = Grandfather Mortal
Dwarfs are not mortal - they live forever unless they become heretics. They are, however, clearly Man shaped - i.e. they have 2 legs, 2 arms and a head.
Where this leaves one legged duck bandits, I'm not so sure.
If I recall, the man rune was copied by all sorts of powers (darkness to make trolls, plants to make aldryami)Actual humans, a mixture of all elements, came later.
