The society that demonizes someone is making themselves vulnerable to those same people. Sure, you can use "anti-demonic" magic on them now, but that means that they can use "demonic" powers against you. They can't use those same demonic powers against someone who hasn't "recognized" them as demonic, it's a vulnerability that *you have given yourself* in order to treat them a certain way.

It's a curse that hurts both parties.
