... urrgh ... my Endless Cosmology Discussion Detector just went flipping HAYWIRE !!! ;)

IMO, the idea that there are some shared Hell places valid for multiple Gloranthan religions/cultures (barring the odd exception) is a God Learner construct ; as is the basically similar notion that one religion's paradise is the hell of a different one.

I'm certainly not against the idea that there may be some psychopompic bounty hunters or supernatural monsters (or whatever) prowling the Hero Planes to grab some wayward souls with not enough protection/knowledge/strength from their deities and loved ones ; I'm a lot less certain about the implicit suggestions that this should be strongly linked with structural cosmology (but not to rule it out either).

I can't help but think that each religion's Hells and other places of dire punishment or banishment would be described in that religion's myths -- so that journeys to those places would typically occur in the Hero Planes, so that these Hells would typically also be a part of the Gods War. But it should *surely* also mean that each different Hell should depend on the specific myths of each specific religion or cult ?

Hmmmm just as a caveat emptor, I'm bound to be influenced by some RW thought on these matters, which probably can't be helped. Giving fair warning though might do :)
