Hi All,
THanks for all the suggestions and advice. It's very much appreciated. A PBM game sounds like a good compromise, if I can find one with open spots and a willingness to take in a total newbie unfamiliar with setting and rules. As far as my instinctive taste goes, the limited exposure I've had to the world tends to suggest Sartar, which I gather is the Dragon Pass region. I like the Orlanthi culture, it's quite a change from typical medieval fantasy. Of course, there are tons of other places I probably haven't even heard of, so I guess we'll see. In my limited reading I was struck by David Dunham's PenDragon Pass rules. I love the idea of something multigenerational. That's not anything I've had much experience with before, but the notion just suits me for some reason or other. I've also been rereading E. R. Eddison's classic fantasy novel The Worm Ouroboros, and it gave me Gloranthan vibes, for some reason. Anyway, thanks again for all your help and encouragement. I suppose PBM is the way to go for now, unless I hear differently from an ORegonian around here. All the best,
