Hmmm, maybe I was sloppy with wording.... he's fallen into the (I think not that uncommon) 'become too badly wanted by the lunars for the clan to tolerate, so he's been officially kicked out and told to stay away for a couple of years or until things cool down.'

But yes, either way, can't take part in the clan or tribal ceremonies.

I know Heroquest is a lot tougher on the 'adventurer' than Runequest was, but surely there is still some mode that allows, just by way of example, a group to end up sailing to Teshnos and having to wait out the weather before returning, months later, without losing their cult status and magic, short of being devotees?

As for Corflu, he was pointed to Pavis when he left his clan, but coincidence and kindness ended up with him being recognized by lunar troops there while at the same time being seen as a traitor by Argrath White Bull's forces...the lunar captain in question has some respect for him and basically gave him a day to get out of town, and the only safe direction was down the river as those who saw him as traitor had just left the Rubble and were known to be roaming near the city

He's since returned to Maniria and regained contact with the Eagle Brown Raiders and formally joined them, so that should take care of cult requirements now....I was just wondering what technically should have happened during the half year or so of no formal association. He had down time in Corflu, and as I said was with a god talker, so I'd assumed that they could have pulled something off, but what I'm hearing is that it really does require a larger community?

(The player is my 13 year old son, so I'm not letting gloranthan technicalities get in the way of him having fun smiting chaos beasties and bad folk, but I try to explain things in a way that doesn't bend gloranthaness too badly.)
