This is tangental to the early Fonrit discussion, so I thought a new thread was a solution. I admit that Cathora could more easily be a daughter of Eiritha, but much of the same myths can apply.

Me:
> > I still hold to my theory that Cathora is Eiritha in disguise who married Artmal and gave birth to the Lopers, before returning to Genert, and marrying Storm Bull.
Peter:
> Interesting, but I'm not quite sold on this.

>From Eiritha:

"Before the Gods War the goddess Eiritha was one of the many content deities of the world. She was an animal goddess, a daughter of Ernalda, Mother Earth, and Hykim, Father of Beasts. Her favourite place was the rich plains of Prax, where she lived with her daughters, each a goddess and the mother of a species of friendly animal."

Use of the word "favourite" implies that she went to other places too. This is my suggestion - that one of those places was the Blue Moon.

"When the mighty Storm Bull came to the land with his peoples the goddess Eiritha gave up all her old paramours and married the god."

The old paramours we know include Good Shepherd but no other named entities (although I'm sure Orlanth, Heler, Lodril, Tolat, and others could be considered as being contenders) . I am suggesting Artmal also be an old paramour.

"Artmal saw a beautiful woman on the earth. She was Cathora and Artmal went to the world to court her. His courtship was challenging and taught him much of the world. At last, however, Artmal met Cathora's father's requirements, and then hers too. They wed and he took her to the world of Veldara to be his wife."

So, this would be Genert's requirements, meaning he really was learning about the world. Back in the sky world she "..was happy for a hundred births, but then grew lonely for her parents. After a hundred more she voiced her complaint. After a hundred more, she had reasons to go away: the moon was too crowded. These 300 Families then came to earth."

This is the origin of the Zaranistangi Loper People. Lopers being the beast-children of Eiritha, (or grandchildren is Cathora is just her daughter).
