Hello,

We had our session last night. The heroes decided to spend the night at Clearwine Fort, and I sidestepped the ambush question by saying the road to the fort was too crowded to spring one. While at the Fort, the heroes were brought in for an audience with Colymar King Kangharl. Here are some excerpts from the description of the encounter:

"The king’s Lunar sorcerers cast evil gestures in the heroes’ direction and call upon unknown demons for dubious purposes."
"If he likes the gift, he will give the heroes gifts of wealth and offer his friendship..."
"Regardless of his reaction, the king wants to know why the hero initiated the Marriage Contest with Ernalsulva."
"If the king is favourably disposed towards the heroes, he may offer to help them with Ernalda’s Challenge..."

It seems to me that this encounter has Kangharl offering to help the heroes steal the Hands of Hofstaring, despite having Lunar sorcerors standing around to hear him do that, and despite being Lunarized himself. Won't the Lunar sorcerors tip off the Lunars in Boldhome about what the heroes are going to do? There is a delay before the heroes can leave for Boldhome - plenty of time for the Lunars to get warning.

Why does Kangharl act like this? The players are wondering if he is just nuts.
