So far I have followed the letter of the rules. I think slightly obscured would be best but could not think of an easy way of doing it. I came across an idea that might work in the "slightly obscured" category. In mancala games (with rows of beans in little pots) apparently you are not supposed to touch the beans to count them. Therefore you can see if there is one beans, two beans, but past six or seven things get less easy to define (depending on the size of your pot). Certainly 15 or more beans could only be assessed as "lots". Slight problem with big numbers requiring lots of beans* but just thought I would mention it as it occured to me yesterday by coincidence.

*We are using base 10 in our games, with D10 rather than D20 and no W notation to contend with, which means lower numbers of beans anyway.
