> Now, this is where you come in. Why? What can I -- what *should* I
- do with the Sofali? .... My son is trying to convince one of the
young Sofali girls to come along on their adventure, which baffles
the girl to no end...
- See if you can get some sort of trade going...the turtle girl goes
on land, in return, she will take them underwater. She could tell
them a few of the marvels to be seen underwater and you could spin
that out as a massive carrot for the kids for a while. I think any
kid would love to explore underwater.
- Where do the turtles lay their eggs? If that is under threat, then
your kids' characters could travel with the turtling, in spite of all
the adults poo-poo-ing turtling and the kids' warnings, scoffing etc,
and save the day, thence to be gifted with the ability to breathe
water (see 1). If you want to introduce conservation to your kids,
that'd be a way to do it.
- Navigation - how do turtles get back to where they came from?
Dunno, but they could be having trouble with this (see 2).
- Inside a whale - turtling gets swallowed whole by an orca or,
better still, a white sperm whale :). A white sperm whale hsunchen
even :):). How to rescue turtling without chopping the whale up, like
all those nasty whalers want to? You can have fun when they persuade
the whale to have a chat and ask him to open wide. Eventually, they
can have a whale friend they can call upon when in trouble.
- Down the plughole. Might have to be careful here, as disappearing
down the plughole is primal fear territory for kids...The water in
the idyllic reef where the turtles live (yes, that one) is
disappearing. It is actually going down a hole to underwater caves
where the sea trolls are following the principle of Eat Anything and
are eating the water!
Hope some of that is useful.
Cheers,
Sam.
