Someone has stolen your body and is using it in a foul and perverse undraconic fashion.

Better kill them just to eliminate the un-good connection to the world of your past.

Invariably, it seems that the dragonnewt comes back to hunt down and kill the person who skinned their corpse. I suspect they'd be just as annoyed if you skinned them alive...

THE most scary line in paranoia: "Here, let me strap you in..."

Check into modern archeology -- its amazing how long even something as active and virulent as the Central American rainforest takes to obliterate something. Even after more than a few centuries of being abandoned, the Mayan ruins were still known and visible to the locals.

Even in ancient times, travelogues (such as that Pliny fellow) spoke of ruins long abandoned. What would happen if the heortlings stumbled over the equivalent of Maiden Castle? Hmm... They'd put it to use. After killing off the ghosts left behind.

OLD material. SF/Fantasy from a byegone era. Good stuff but feels a little dated at times.
Some of it is hard to find. But she was the master of 'alien lifestyles' back when it was first being expolored. David Brin, Benford, et all owe much to her. =) -- but that's getting OT. But my games over the decades owe her much homage.

But one of the main plotlines is 'something left behind by more advanced/magical/eviler civilization is disturbed by fools/ignorant/greedy/seekers-after-wisdom and starts to react...
