Agreed. Certainly in campaign play we continue to use the word 'spirits' for theistic entities. As the search continues, I might mention one other word that we also use to describe godlings: Powers.

So if we're attempting to construct a Heortling vocabulary of divinity we might have three layers:

The Great Gods: Named Gods, Thunder Brothers, War Women, etc.

Minor Gods: Godlings, Powers, 'Spirits', Hearth Gods, Umbroli, Air Tribe, Earth Tribe, Sons and Daughter of Air, the Os, Veti, Alf, Dis etc.

Spirits: Ghasts, Fauls, Ellorghast.
