It's not an association - Kallyr with storms - that I've ever made. I'm not too sure where it comes from.

In OID, Kallyr is a Rigsdal [4w2] Vinga/Dar [15w] initiate (in that order!) with a growing collection of magic widgets, specialist followers, and a 'mutual admiration' or conquest relationship with a star god. She is described as 'powerful as a minor god' (pay no attention to the stats :)) and the page gives as an example her personal combat to **exterminate** a tornado. (Nothing about commanding it to turn aside, or blowing it off course, it's described as a zap job. Vinga Defender has a 'Shield Stops Wind' feat, but see below.)

On a related note, to a certain extent, I think Kallyr is leaving her vingans behind. IMG in Pavis, Natalina Vingadotter commands the forty nine vingans (BA 66) the Kallyrii 'Red Clan' vingans and the War Daughters. A heroquester of note, she is actively exploring the Vinga paths of the Other Side. Natalina is loyal to Kallyr, but the queen herself has become more used to playing with the boys. Kallyr no longer directs the vingans on a day to day basis. While not exactly Arkat, her hero path is about moving forward and changing perspectives. For Kallyr, Vinga is the Gateway.

I suggested a Vingan Defender Storm to delay the Bat because it seemed suitably desperate, lateral, and half-baked and because, the Defender Storm 'holds back [the enemy] so the people can better prepare for its coming' (ST 175). Very importantly, it leads from to gesture to a hope to a plan in typical vingan fashion. It's early Storm Season, so its the wrong season for a Defender Storm (normally summoned against Valind), and very few vingans have this Storm affinity its a very minor subcult. The idea might have come from Kallyr or one of her vingan followers, or it might equally have come from the Colymar War Women or some other vingan group. But once the idea is out there, the real possibilities begin to crystalise.

 Cheers

John

Until I am old and ailing,
waiting for the final journey,
I shall not be true to the winds
if I do not praise Kallyr.
