Given that the largest, by far, iron deposits are in the West, there must be something wrong about that implication.

Perhaps, lots of pagan gods died in clearing out the West? This would especially work if Brithos and Arolanit had less iron than the Invisible God worshiping settlements.

Alternately, those pagan gods were just Brithini gone bad (Malkioni view), so maybe all the metal came from "ordinary" early-generation Danmalastani, peers of the pagan Gods without the sin of encouraging worshipers, who died in droves when Death came. Later generation Danmalastani leave poorer ore concentration, until modern Brithini leave nothing (except possibly for the really old ones, who remember the start of the Ice Age, or those with good/short pedigrees like the Count of Arolanit?).
