Yes. Nysalorian illumination provided liberation from the illusions of the world, the gods, tradition, etc. That such liberation was a temptation for many to impose their desires upon others *without restraint* is well-documented. His followers abused their powers, perverted rites, and sought influence for self-gain. "At the Edge of Light is Always Darkness," said Nysalor. It is the price of liberation.

Arkat is the Destroyer, hated for a VERY GOOD reason by many many cultures.

Most notable was Gaalth, a Nysalorian priest of the Illuminating Light who was likely one of the Nysalorian missionaries to Hrelar Amali. Summoned by King Gwaloring, Gaalth built a little shrine to Nybie in Frowal and cured the Queen of the plague. Gaalth was killed in 408 by Arkat.
