OK, so for example:
Let's imagine that the PCs are very interested in finishing a feud between two Praxian clans and ask their NPC Issaries priest to launch an "Issaries the Conciliator" heroquest (the one in the videogame "King of Dragon Pass"). Obviously, the priest takes the role of Issaries. The PCs are a group of mercenaries of different cults (Orlanth, Humakt, Daka Fal, Aldrya, Lodril) and some of them have a lot of experience fighting Chaos, so they act as Storm Bull helping Issaries (Is that even possible? Or does the quest need a Storm Bull cultist?), the rest act as Issaries guard and then the quest itself summons a wandering Lhankor Mhy initiate who happened to be near the place where the quest starts. The Big-Teeth and the Big-Noses are the Praxian clan leaders or some representative the quest summons.
So, what if the Issaries priest is killed by the Praxians? Can the PCs still finish the quest? Can they freely go to Hell to rescue the priest? Would they then be entering the Heroplane? Do they need to know some myth related to visiting Hell and coming out?
What if the PCs acting as Storm Bull use magic not associated to Storm Bull, like Lodril's Firespear?

>
> OK, who is organizing this quest, performing the roles and so on? Is this a quest where the local tribe or city is enthusiastically supporting, so nearly all the roles are filled by locals who know the myth and know their lines so to speak? Or is this a quest where the local Lightbringer priests are forced to summon "others" into the quest - folk who will fulfill the mythic archetypes and needs of the magical ceremony but are likely to act in surprising and unpredictable ways.

>
> Does he stay dead? What is the role of Issaries in the quest? Are the PCs willing to transform the ceremony into a trip into the Underworld with all the dangers and risks that poses?

> Shouldn't affect his magic BUT it might change the results of the quest - and not necessarily for the better.
