No, definitely leave swine herding in.  It's a time-honoured occupation.  

Those who'd like help in keeping the herd rounded up might look at something like the Louisiana Catahoula leopard dog.  This breed was used both to find and bring to bay feral pigs in the southern states (working best in trios, so that the pig couldn't easily dispatch just one), and also to herd domestic pigs and cattle.  There used to be pig drives to railheads in the States as well as cattle drives, back in the 1800's.

Looking for more appropriate examples, there was swineherding mentioned in the Old Testament.  In the Middle Ages, taking the pigs out into the oak groves for acorns was the traditional labour of the month for November, as was killing the pig (or feasting on the pig) for December, as shown in thousands of illuminated manuscripts.  

A variation on this was letting the hogs scrump for fallen apples in the orchards.  Yumm!    

So, it's perfectly feasible to herd pigs, especially when they trust you.  If they don't, then use bribery and intimidation.  Works for humans, too.
